How is Jemima doing?

Hey everyone!!!!

It has been so long since I’ve been on here, and I feel like I owe it to you guys to come and give you a quick update on how I’m doing.

It has been really crazy the last couple of months. So many good things have happened, and so many unfortunate events have happened to really put a damper on my life. I went to Nicaragua this summer (details to come). Nicaragua was really a life changing experience, I had such an amazing time. When I got back from Nicaragua, I got engaged (details to come). The same week I got engaged, I landed my dream job and Passed an exam I thought I would have surely failed. I was literally on top of the world, I felt like finally I was at a place in my life where things were falling into place. I could not believe the miracles God was doing in my life and I was so grateful for that.

Then 2 weeks after I got engaged and 2 days before I was supposed to start my job, my father suffered a stroke. I came home that afternoon and he was watching tv, I said hi to him and he just shook his head. I didn’t notice that something was wrong until my sister got home about half an hour later. Took him to the hospital and it was confirmed  he suffered a stroke. He suffered one 5 years ago and he was able to walk out the hospital talking and walking. This time the stroke has affected both his speech and his walking.

The day I got engaged, I really was excited for my parents mostly. I am the first of their 4 children to get engaged, my father was literally walking on cloud 9. While he was in the hospital I really felt broken that there was a possibility, he wouldn’t live to see me get married and to walk me down the aisle. Thank God he is home now and although he is not speaking and walking fully, I am so grateful that he is alive.

So where am I mentally? I am honestly drained. I haven’t done my makeup fully in so long, I haven’t felt like dressing up. The anxiety has slowly creeped back in and my body of course is letting me know something is off. This was supposed to be such a big time in my life. I got engaged, I got my dream job and things were feeling right. I am planning my wedding but I am not fully enjoying it as much as I should. I worry about my dad, I worry about my mom seeing my dad the way that he is.

Since today is mental health day, I thought I would stop by to just encourage anyone dealing with the issues I’m dealing with. It’s okay to not feel okay everyday. It’s okay if you want to cry it out, or even scream it out. Whatever it is you need to do to feel better, DO IT!!!! it;s important to take care of you first, and worry about everything else after. I know things are tough for me now, but I know that things will get better. It’s hard sometimes to understand the things that life throws, but we just have to keep pushing!!

Hi beauties!!!

Sorry for being missing in action, life has been super busy these days. This is just a quick review of 2 items i purchased last month. If you have not checked out my last post you should do so. I mentioned that I was going to be pick up the new blush palettes from Juvia’s place. If you have been following my page, you know that I have been obsessing with Juvia’s place these last few months. I was super excited to get my hands on the blush palettes because I am so impressed with the eyeshadows. If you are not familiar with Juvia’s place, you need to check out their website or their Instagram page.

Juvia’s place came out with the Saharan blush palette volume I and volume II. Volume I is geared towards  deeper skin tones, and volume II towards lighter skin tones.  As a woman of color, I don’t really own a lot of blushes because I don’t find that there are many blushes for me. The MAC blushes who can work for me are too pricey for my liking, so I was super excited for this release.

I am absolutely in love guys. Juvia claimed that these blush palettes are for multi purposes. They can be used as eyeshadows, blushes, contour and highlighters. I must say they did not lie. I have been using them faithfully for about a month now and I am so impressed with the pigmentation and the quality of the products. If you are of a deeper skin tone, you are going to love Volume I. Using Aby as a contour color has been life changing!!!

You guys already know I love the concept behind every palette Juvia has come out with, and this is no different. If you are a beginner and you cannot afford to spend a lot of money on palettes, I highly recommend these blush palettes. You literally get your eyeshadows, your blush and highlight for $18. You cannot beat that!!

With that being said, they just released a new palette called  “The Magic Palette”. am I going to get it? ABSOLUTELY. Do I need it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Lol

If you have any Juvia’s place products, comment down below and let me know how you like them.

Hi beauties!!!!!!!

Finals are finally over!!!!! (My last final is tonight). I am super excited to be done with this semester. I think all my semesters in grad school have been tiring, but this one takes the cake. I have been slacking with my posts because school and work literally took over my life.Since my last beauty review,I have purchased quite a few new beauty products that I have been obsessing with and I am super excited to share with you all.

IMG_3657 (1)

The first Item on the list is the Estee Lauder Double wear Foundation. I have superrrrr oily skin,  after a couple of hours you can literally fry bacon on my nose. I have been trying all types of foundations, primers, setting powders and NOTHING have worked. I was a bit reluctant to buy this because it is so PRICEY ($40), but one day I was at Macy’s and the sale lady convinced me to buy it and boy am I glad I did. This is the best foundation for oily skin in my opinion. I have tried other foundations and none of them compare honestly.

so this little bad boy I have been avoiding for years. I don’t waste my time on primers because even the ones who claim to cater to oily skin do no work for me. I needed a chapstick a couple of weeks ago, went to Walmart and picked up the Maybelline baby lips chapstick and I loved how soft it made lips. So i was like “Maybe the primer will do the same for my face”. So I bought it since it was only $5.99 and I have been in love. Before applying my mattyfying primer, I put this one on and it leaves my skin feeling so soft. I honestly noticed a difference when applying my foundation. Good stuff

I have been avoiding these two products because whenever I purchase YouTube hyped products, I am always disappointed. I gotta say I am pretty please with these two. I use the Tape shape concealer in the color Dark to conceal, and the Nars Creamy radiant in armande to highlight.

I have been using my ABH contour palette for a couple of months now, I got it at TJ Maxx for about $20. I was pleased with it until I realized as weeks were going by the product was literally drying. It became so hard to blend it out, so I went and got this Black opal foundation stick in the color Carob  to see if it would work. I am so in love with this for my contour. It is so creamy and blends so well.

Another YouTube hyped product I was reluctant to purchase. This setting powder is expensive in my opinion, so I was not going to spend my hard earned money on it and not liking it. I was inside sephora one day and I saw the travelling size for this powder. At first I was NOT going to get it because even the travelling size to me is pricey.  But i got weak and wanted to “treat” myself so I bought it. YouTube was right. This powder is pretty amazing. I am a woman of color and my fear is to  look ashy in pictures; This powder does not give you that ashy flashback when taking pictures. It’s pretty good.

This eyeshadow palette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have not read my review on the Juvia’s Saharan Palette, please go read it. Listen if you are a woman of color and you are tired of these eye shadows not showing on your eyelid,  go buy Juvia’s palettes and you will be satisfied. I am not being paid to say this, I purchased this palette with my own money. This along with the Saharan have been my go to palettes for the last 2 months. They were the only palettes I took with me to Jamaica, and I love them. The colors, the pigmentation, and the packaging are too die for. I am going to buy more of their palettes.I just got the two blush palettes they came out with, so stay tuned for those.

If you guys have tried any of these products, leave a comment down below and let me know how you liked them.

Hello beauties

It has been such a busy month for me. I have been writing papers, studying for exams and getting ready for the semester to end. I am super excited that the weather is getting warmer and I am looking forward to summer. As promised I am back with another vacation lookbook.

I really wanted to keep my looks simple, comfortable while still looking sexy. I’ve really been feeling nudes this year, So I stuck with that Color palette. I only added a pop of yellow with this stunning dress I found, I fell madly in love and HAD to buy it.

Happy Friday Beauties!!!

It’s good Friday and I finally have some time to share with you some of the pictures from my recent mini getaway to Jamaica. As mentioned before it was my bff 25th birthday, so we packed our bags and headed to MontegoBay for a weekend. It was one of the most memorable weekends of my life thus far, I had so much fun out there. If you have not been before I definitely encourage you guys to go because Jamaica is super fun.

Whenever I am purchasing swimsuits I tend to stay away from 2 piece suits and lean towards monokinis. I don’t have any insecurities about my body its really all about comfort for me. I am not comfortable in a 2 piece suit yet, I have tried some on and I don’t like how I looked in them. So for this trip I went to one of my favorite online boutique for swimwear and got them from there. I am cheap, so I refused to spend hundreds just for a weekend. I want to slay and look good, but I refused to be slaying and be broke.

I discovered Icon boutique a couple of months back when I went to Mexico, So I went on their website and bought swimsuits I felt would look great on me and were super affordable.  Each of the one I will show you retails for $22 but if its your first time purchasing you get a 10% discount. The shipping is super fast. I live in new jersey they ship from Atlanta, and I got both items within 3 days.

We  got matching ones for our group picture with the birthday girl and the turquoise ones are also from Icon Boutique.

Keep Calm!!!!

Hey there beauties!

I recently stepped out of the country for a couple of days to celebrate my best friend’s birthday, and I thought I would share with you my overall experience with going on a vacation.

First thing that I do after I book a vacation, is to start prepping myself mentally to hop on a plane. As I’ve mentioned several times before I suffer from an extreme anxiety disorder that can really put a damper on my life at times. Whenever I have to go anywhere far, my mind starts racing and starts thinking of the worse things that could happen. So whenever I know I have to take a plane ride or a long drive, I want to be mentally prepared and not stress myself into a panic attack.

Weeks prior to the trip I started researching about some natural things I can take to help  deal with my anxiety. I do drink lot of tea to help me relax, but the last time I was on a plane the tea made me use the ladies room a lot and I wanted to avoid that this time around. I started researching online and I stumbled upon this natural product by LifeSeasons called the Anxie-T Stress Support.

I started reading some of the reviews and everyone was raving about how amazing this product was. As I mentioned before I do not want to be medicated for my anxiety, hence why I started eating better and exercising. I went on a hunt, and found it at my Local Vitamin shoppe; it retails for $30 (not cheap). There are 60 capsules in the bottle and is recommended to take 2 capsules daily. It claims to support relaxation, Promote a feeling of well being and help with stress Management.  It is also gluten free if anyone don’t consume things with gluten and its really 100% natural.

I started taking it a week before my trip and guys this stuff works amazingly!!!! I started taking one in the morning and one and the afternoon, and I noticed how calm and relaxed I felt throughout the day. I was so amazed at how good it worked. Whenever I felt a little stressed I would take one and within half an hour I would feel relaxed.

The morning of my trip I took one about an hour before getting on the plane and it was a smooth ride to my destination. I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with the anxiety of life or dealing with stress. I f you find yourself anxious whenever you have to get on a plane, this is for you. I find this to be an efficient way to deal with stress and anxiety, especially if you don’t want to go with any other prescribed drugs.

If any of you have tried this before, comment below and let me know how it worked for you.

Black Velvet

Hello beauties!!!!

It is a snowy day here in the Northeast, I am laying in bed watching my favorite shows and munching on some of my favorite snacks. I thought I would come by and share with you my outfit this past weekend to church. A couple of weeks ago I found this beautiful black velvet skirt at my Local thrift store ($4.99) and I fell in love. To be honest  I don’t really have a particular style, if it looks good on me I like it. I paired it with a simple ribbed top and these sock boots that I have been dying to wear.

Happy International Women’s Day!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello beauties!!

I am so excited to be back and talk to you guys a little bit. It’s been a while since I did a chat post where I am not talking about products. If you have been following my blog since the beginning, or have read my very first few posts, you’ll know I started on here just chatting and sharing some personal stuff about my life. Since today is Wednesday and international women’s day, I thought it was fitting to share my Women Crush Wednesday with you all.

In today’s society I think our young girls are embracing this catty and petty idea that women cant or shouldn’t support each other. I’ve seen it on social media so many times and even me in the past fell for it. If another woman starts a blog  or starts a business, they receive so much hatred and negative feedback for no reason at all. Everything becomes such a competition that sometimes a lot of bright minds are afraid to step out of their box because of how negative our world is.  It is so discouraging when you go on social media and see just how much hateful comments women are saying about other women on a daily.

When I started my blog my fear was never how my Male audience would receive me, but my fear was always how other women would judge me. Til this day I am still scared to fully talk about my blog, to share it on social media. Because deep down I know someone out there (a woman) will be judging me. So today I thought it was fitting to dedicate this post and support some women who I think deserve it. I am embracing positivism this year, and this is one of the ways I feel I can use my voice to encourage other women to start supporting each other. It is our job to not only encourage but to show our younger generation to be catalysts of change in their family and communities.

I had to give a shout out to my little sister Taby who doesn’t have a blog, youtube or anything. But when I started this journey to gain mental freedom and to be healthier, she started on a diet which I followed with her. Sometimes when you embark on a journey its so much easier when you have a partner. My sister has helped me in so many ways with my weight loss and also dealing with my anxiety disorder.

To all my other friends and women out there who are working everyday to make this world a better place, you are loved. Your light will never dim because you are supporting someone else. God created each of us with different talents, creativity, and personalities. There is room for each of us on this earth and room for each of our lights to shine

The Influenster Burberry Voxbox

Hello Beauties!!!!!

I am back and I am super excited about this post. If you have been following my blog, then you know how much I  am a fan of Influenster. If you are new on here or never heard of Influenster before, then I am happy to tell you what it is. Influenster is basically a chance for you to get free makeup without having to sign up for a monthly subscription, or having to pay any money. All you simply do is sign up at, do product reviews, ask questions about products you want to try etc… Once you rack up points, you will get emails from them to complete a survey to qualify you for a voxbox, and that is it. Even if you are not into beauty products, influenster is still for you. you can do reviews on electronics, organic food, hair products, family, health and soooooo much more.

This month I was super excited about the box I received; This had to be by far the best box I’ve gotten from them. I received the Liquid Lip velvet Burberry voxbox which contained 2 liquid lipsticks, a lip liner and a glow stick.

These products are amazing. The lipsticks are super soft and creamy, and the best part is they are not drying at all. I put the deeper plum color on and I fell in love, and it is lasting. I love me a matte lips but I hate how drying a lot of these liquid lipsticks are, but the Burberry lip velvet feels so comfortable on the lips.

I have not tried the highlighting stick yet but I can already tell its going to be great. Guys if you have not done so yet go check out Influenster, you will not regret it. And if you want to try the Burberry Lip velvet lipstick, they are now available at Sephora. They are on the pricey side ($30) but they are so worth it so I would say at least try one of the colors they have.

Thank you guys for stopping by and sticking with me, you are greatly appreciated.
